Why did we launch La Carte des Colocs?
Photography: Alin EnulescuLooking for a room share can sometimes be a long and costly process, especially if you are not lucky enough to find that rare gem through your circle of friends and acquaintances. Having all lived in shared housing since we came of age, and having traveled a great deal, we are well aware of the obstacles you can face in the treasure hunt for the ideal room share: difficulty locating listings geographically, a lack of information about public transport and different areas, hard-to-use major listing sites with exorbitantly priced subscriptions, and so on.
With this in mind, in July 2013 we decided to roll up our sleeves and try to change the situation by developing a site designed first and foremost to make the search process easier for users. On La Carte des Colocs, you will not find a long registration process or endless lists of listings. A single map is enough: it makes it easy to understand the geography of a city, sort through the mass of information posted on the site at a glance, and clearly see which listings you have already viewed or contacted.
We're not chasing short-term profit. Our aim is to build a genuine community and give it the best possible product for free — without ever making people feel squeezed.
We sincerely hope you will enjoy the site and make it your own. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any comments, suggestions or complaints. Every opinion is worth hearing if it can help us make your search even easier.
As you can imagine, building the site — and above all hosting and maintaining it — takes a huge amount of time and quite a lot of money… If you value the service and are glad you did not have to get your wallet out on other sites, please consider making a donation and spreading the word. We will be very grateful :)
